Giants edge Marlins by 1

The San Francisco Giants beat the Florida Marlins in 10 innings yesterday in a hard-fought game of baseball. Each baseball game is different, and an MLB extra-innings game is always a possibility. You don’t often see such high scoring games, and anyone with Giants tickets sure got their money’s worth. This high-scoring game saw the teams combine for a whopping 19 runs! Talk about excitement!

Giants pitcher Chris Ray (3.29 ERA) got the win, while Clay Hensley (3.09 ERA) took the loss for the Marlins. Jonathan Sanchez went 6 innings for the Giants, allowed 7 hits, 2 home runs and 5 earned runs with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Giants was Denny Bautista (3.13), Sergio Romo (1.93), and Brian Wilson (2.33). The Marlins’s starter Alex Sanabia went 2 innings, allowed 9 hits, no home runs and 7 earned runs with no walks and no strikeouts. Jorge Sosa (5.87), and Burke Badenhop (5.18) also pitched for the Marlins. With the win, Ray’s record goes to 4-0, while Hensley drops to 1-4.

Juan Uribe provided much of the offense for the Giants with an incredible 4 runs batted in. In addition to the 10 runs, the Giants put up 17 hits and committed no errors. Andres Torres led the Giants in hitting with 4 hits, followed by Juan Uribe’s 3 hits, and Edgar Renteria with 2. The Marlins didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Marlins mustered 9 runs, 11 hits and one error.

Umpiring duties were performed by Mike Estabrook, Lance Barksdale, Ed Rapuano and Tom Hallion. There were 35,945 Giants ticket holders in attendance at AT&T Park.
